About: Karen Anand is also known as India's Food Guru, in every sense of the word. She has been influencing the way people eat and perceive good food in India, in her 30+ years journey. She began in Paris (where else!) as a student. A tryst with Michelin Lucas Carton in Paris, she fine-tuned her passion and turned it into her Profession. From the trend setting restaurant, The Salad Bar to a small chain of Delis and then catering to the city’s elite, Bombay, received its first taste of European casual chic eating. Her passion for food also found expression in food columnsTimes of India, Elle, Mint, Man's World, Verve and Pune Times. which often takes her into kitchens and restaurants all over the world. Karen continues to write extensively about food, with columns appearing in Brunch and the Sunday Telegraph. She also authors the yearly Pune city Times Food Guide. She has, so farAuthored 20 Books. Her twelve-book series entitled Simple Cooking was nominated for the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Paris. She ran three cookery shows later, a successful catering company, Mumbai's first gourmet food shop, a gourmet academy - 'Karen Anand' brand of food products. She is the recipient of the Trophée de l’Esprit Alimentaire (Food & Spirit Award) for Culture from the French Government and The winner of the French Ambassador’s Travel Writer Award, of which Meryl Streep is also an fellowo-awardee. Karen did the Indian recipes for Suhana, a range of Indian spices in the UK which won the Great Tasting Award UK 2010. She is the founder of the hugely successful Markets by Karen Anand, Farmers market held in 9 Indian cities. She is also a Consultant for multinationals, international hotel and restaurant chains and F&B brands entering the Indian market, creating recipes and profiling local palates for international companies. She has contributed to restaurant projects in the UK, in particular the Bombay café in London called Dishoom. In 2006, she was awarded the prestigious Food & Spirit Award (Trophée de l’Esprit Alimentaire) for Culture from the French Government. Karen has worked with Team Work Arts for their festival India by the Bay in Hong Kong in January 2016.
